Well, gang.... July is almost upon us. We're gonna hit the ground running on the 8th of July.
*July 8th- Outpatient appointment with Radiation Oncologist for "measurements".
*July 9th- Outpatient treatment of Kepivance....
Kepivance is used to reduce the chance of developing sores and ulcers in the mouth and to shorten the time with sores or ulcers in patients with blood cancers who receive high doses of chemotherapy and radiation therapy before bone marrow transplants.
*July 10th- Outpatient Kepivance
*July 11th- Outpatient Kepivance
*July 12th- (referred to as Day -5) Admitted to Tulane. Chemotherapy using Melphalan......
MELPHALAN (Alkeran®)
Melphalan is a chemotherapy drug that is given as a treatment for some types of cancer. It's mainly used to treat multiple myeloma, melanoma, ovarian and breast cancer.
*July 13th- Day -4 RADIATION morning and night
*July 14th- Day -3 RADIATION morning and night
*July 15th- Day -2 RADIATION morning and night
*July 16th- Day -1 RADIATION morning and night
*July 17th- Day 0 STEM CELL TRANSPLANT Also referred to as "Dom's New Birthday"

Nan, there are people praying for Dom and for you during this difficult time. Looking at your schedule for July, it is clear that this is going to be a very difficult month. As someone who has been a caregiver for another who has been though radiation, chemotherapy, surgery, and all the painful aftermath, I know that it can sometimes feel as though you'll never come out of the dark tunnel. But you and Dom will come out of it, and there will come a day when you both will enjoy a ship deck beneath your feet again. You're not alone.
