Atrial Fibrillation

Well, Dom's mom suffers from Atrial Fibrillation, that's usually treated with Coumadin, as it can cause strokes.

Unfortunately, she also has a bleeding ulcer which could cause internal bleeding, is likely to take a fall..... if she fell on her head, it would cause brain hemorrhaging. Falls are more likely with Coumadin patients.

So, her doc thinks that the chance of a stroke is safer than her suffering the above scenarios.

The guy has really come around in past days. He calls every night, and is ALMOST pleasant.

Last night, he said that there's a bit of a chance that she has colon cancer (blood in her stool), but we agreed that it would be silly to give a 94 year old a colonoscopy.

So- she's being transferred to a nursing home tomorrow morning. Doc wants her to have some physical therapy before returning home. Dom and I took care of that yesterday. She wants no part of this, but I'm relieved for Dom. He needs to concentrate on his own health- this way he'll know that she's in good hands for a few weeks.

This is the joint that my mom was in for about a month when she'd broken her back from a fall. It's the nicest place in town.

So, Dom will be the bad-guy and take her over there tomorrow. I want no part of it.
