Spring Has Arrived in the Deep South!

The weather here is gorgeous.  It will be pushing 80 degrees today. 

We had a blast last weekend.  Wendy and Bubby came over for St. Patrick's Day and spent the night.  We had all of the usual... Irish soda bread, oat farls (pictured), corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, and Bailey's/Jameson's on the rocks for dessert!

We finally got Dom's blood pressure under control this week.  Chemo starts Monday.  Please say a prayer.

A FUN, FUN Super Bowl!

Dom and I haven't entertained since his cancer returned in April.  We were finally ready for this.

Had a BLAST

We had:

*Country Ham from my pal in KY.  Thanks again, Goldie!
*Loaded Potato Salad
*Spicy Deviled Eggs with Siracha
*Cheeses
*Breads
*Bacon Wrapped Meatballs with brown sugar and chili powder
*Chocolate Covered Bacon
*Antipasto Skewers

Wendy brought a King Cake.  Dennis and Cheryl left after the game.  Wendy and Bubby spent the night, so the partied continued into Monday afternoon!

It felt SO GOOD to socialize once again!

It's Been a Great Week!

We're SO enjoying Christine's visit!

It's been non-stop fun.

On Wednesday, Christine and I had a couple of beers at Wendy and Bubby's house while Dom was in PT.  It was good to visit with them!

Yesterday, the 3 of us went to The Italian Grill in Picayune.  Once again, my Dominic walked into the restaurant.  😃

He had Veal Parmesan with pasta, while we girls indulged in an 18" Supreme pizza.  YUMMY!

It's Nice to be Loved- Such WONDERFUL Friends

We were stunned at the outpouring of help and love from our small social circle.

Firstly, Richard McM appeared with a wheelchair for Dom and built a wheelchair ramp from our Kitchen down to the Living Room.

He returned the next day to "tweak" the ramp and remove our Master bathroom door and knocked out the door frame.  Such a great help.  We love you, "Big Rich"!!!!

Secondly, a family friend from Newbury, Ohio insisted on sending us a Transport Chair.  Someone had done it for her, and she wanted to "Pay it Forward".  (I promised her that I would do the same).  Wouldn't you know it-  Amazon delivered a beautiful new transport chair just 2 days later! I'm able to lift it easily.  I'm keeping it in the hatchback of my Eclipse.

So very thoughtful.  We LOVE YOU, Rondi!

Shortly after this, Dom ordered a Burn Barrel.  Dennis and Cheryl picked it up, cut the bottom off of it and set it up for me.  THANKS, guys!  We LOVE YOU!

Then, last week, Wendy and Bubby literally FILLED my refrigerator and freezer with oodles of food.  Red Beans/Rice with Sausage, White Beans with Ham, Chicken and Dumplings, Dirty Rice (better than Popeyes!!!).  Into the refrigerator went Crawfish Pasta Salad and delicious Potato Salad.

Bubby is returning soon with a friend to remove the cap off of Dom's pickup truck.  I can't see out the rearview mirror and don't trust myself driving that big thing with side mirrors.  What a GREAT help you have been to us!  Many THANKS!

Another FUN Super Bowl

We had a GREAT Super Bowl Sunday and Monday.  We put out a great spread of food featuring an 18#  Kentucky Country Ham from our Pal Goldie in Danville, KY.

Served with an antipasto with hard salami, cheese tortellini, fresh mozzarella, baby corn, black olives, artichoke hearts and hearts of palm. Balsamic Deviled Eggs, a Cheesy Sour-Cream based New Potato Salad, Sweet and Spicy Bacon Wrapped Meatballs, and for dessert a DECADENT bacon/walnut Fudge.

We had our annual Super Bowl Pool... Wendy won the money this year.  She and I indulged in Moscow Mules (my new favorite), Joe brought over a bottle of Jagermeister and had a couple of martinis.  Dom and Bubby stuck with their beer.

The party continued on Monday.  Bubs did some fishing.... caught some nice bass and threw 'em back in.  Had a fun little visit from Wendy's daughter Ashley and grandchild. Julie.

Tuesday's Christmas Dinner/Gathering

We had a lot of fun on Tuesday.  As I'm headed to Ohio on the 27th, we thought that we'd have our Christmas Dinner/Gathering on the 20th.

The usual suspects were here.... Bubby, Dennis, Cheryl and Joe.  Sadly, Wendy had to work.

Beer, wine, bubbly, martinis and Moscow Mules flowed.  Made a 22# Turkey.  We had a grand time, as usual.
