Fun With David

Dear lifelong friend, Dave stayed with us for a few nights in Panama City Beach.

He's as healthy, slim and handsome as ever.

We had a blast.  We ate out for breakfast on Wed. morning, then headed to Pier Park for a couple of hours.  We went to a really neat place....  "Wonder Works".  I thought that it was gonna be a goofy "kids" place.  Maybe it was, but we sure enjoyed it!  Stopped for a quick beer at a place new to us....Dat Cajun Place, then headed to Dee's Hangout for a great dinner.  (As usual....they remain the best joint on the beach...wonderful food, friendly staff....can't be beat).

Dave got an early start on Thursday morning to attend a Time Share thing.  He scored a $100 American Express Card and a free week at any of their properties. When he returned to the condo, we headed over to Dave & Busters for the first time.... The place looks like a casino...full of video games.  LOVED IT!

Had dinner at Carrabba's courtesy of Dave's Time Share gift.  Lovely place.  Great food.

Headed home so that the boys could watch some car racing, then went to bed early.

Sadly, my David left around 5am on Friday morning.

It tickles me that my 2 favorite boys get along so well.  We're trying to convince him to come for a visit when it's warmer in May or June.  Hoping so!

A Visit From One of my Favorite People on Earth!

Dave is one of my dearest friends.  I first met him when I was 13 years old.  He was the advisor for the school's ski club.  As a senior in High School, he was my Distributive Education teacher.  It was a vocational class concentrating on advertising and marketing.

He was very much a mentor to me.  As far back as the mid-seventies, he taught me that "women's lib movement" was nonsense.  "Nan...you don't need an organization to get ahead!  You create your own reality!".

As far as the influential men in my life, I jumped from my father during childhood, to Dave in my school days, to a boss at my newspaper in Painesville, Ohio (Another Dave!), and then finally to my Dominic.  These 4 guys made me who I am today.

It was a very short 2 night visit, but a GREAT ONE!

He took me out for dinner to my 2 favorite places.... Dee's Hangout and Los Rancheros.

We spent a day at Pier Park, and I drove him around town.  Went to Rock It Lanes and played video games.  Introduced him to the guys at Beach Bar and Package.  Had a ball!

Honestly, as he said goodbye and drove off, I almost had tears in my eyes.

Emerald Coast Cruizin' 2013

We planned our condo visit this month around this particular event.  This was our 3rd straight year at the event, as well as the 3rd location for it.

The new venue was WONDERFUL.  It was located right next to Pier Park.  No more porta-potties, nice sidewalks, oldies music, cold beer and plenty of food.

There were over 3000 cars there.  Dom was in heaven.  We had a very pleasant time.

EMERALD COAST CRUIZIN

We also spent time at Beach Bar and Package across the street, as well as Dee's Hangout for dinner one night.

I was able to spend 2 days lounging on the beach.  The water was crystal clear, but a very chilly 72 degrees.  Air temp was almost 80.  Nice.

We saw plenty of dolphins and stingrays.

We pigged out on Veteran's Day.  Went to Hooters for a pitcher of beer and 10 free wings for lunch.  Then later, went to Applebee's for a free dinner for Dom. He had a nice steak, and I ordered myself a great sandwich.

Fun times!
