Birthday at the Beach.... The Big Five-One

Hi gang-

Hope this post finds everyone healthy and happy.... especially you dads out there-  Happy Father's Day!

All is great here.  Our Christine is here from Colorado with her boyfriend, Troy.  Looking forward to a big cookout today.

Things have been busy, busy, busy lately.  On this past Thursday, we went to Tulane for Dom's monthly infusion of Zometa.  Knowing there was a possibility of OSTEONECROSIS OF THE JAW  (literally "dead jaw"), I told our Post Transplant Nurse that Dom was experiencing jaw pain.

She promptly threw us out with a form to give our Dentist in Bogalusa.

What was to be a relaxing afternoon shopping and lunching in Slidell turned into a tense ride to our dentist.  I made the mistake of Googling this disease and freaked out.  A little too much knowledge can be frightening.  I bullied them into letting Dom see his dentist.  After x-rays and a thorough exam, he saw no evidence of Dead Jaw, and signed a release to allow Dom to continue with the Zometa.

I then called Colleen to ask if we HAD to come back in for the treatment.  Much to our delight, she told us to just wait until next month.  He's really winding down.... they need to figure it out, but it looks like he has only a few more infusions left, then they cut him loose.

There IS light at the end of this dark tunnel!

My birthday was on June 7th and we spent the week at the condo.  Had a lovely time.

Arrived on Monday afternoon, relaxed, then were awakened at midnite by thunder.  We went out on the balcony and watched the most INTENSE lightening show over the Gulf until 2am.  Neither of us had seen anything like this.  Lightening was vertical, horizontal, diagonal.... non-stop for 2 hours.  A freighter in the distance was struck 4 times.  The crew must have been scared shitless!  I took a million pictures, but none of them did it any justice.

Woke up on Tuesday to see that my Donn had changed his sign outside of the bar.  I was absolutely tickled!

We spent a few hours on the beach, walked across the street to visit Donn and Tina for a couple of beers.  Strolled over to Los Rancheros for a couple of margaritas, and finally went to the Firefly for a fabulous Delmonico steak dinner.  For dessert, I had a Raspberry/Bailey's martini.  Heavenly!

Cousin Joe spent Wed and Thursday night with us.  Had big fun.  Went to our Mexican joint one night, then ate leftovers the next.

My relative is doing well, also, so it is perhaps a hopeful trend with this awful disease... I really liked the last fading light shot of the pier and the ship in the rosy colored water!

I miss the beach, but not the humidity!
