Chackbay Road Trip Part III
While sipping on our SLUSH PUPPIES, they stopped at the St. James Parish Historical Museum in Lutcher, LA. The museum itself was closed, but there were plenty of plaques to read and outbuilding to look at. I was especially knocked out by the enormous 800 year old Cyprus Tree on the grounds. I asked Henry to stand next to it, just to give you an idea of the size of this monster. One of the photos shows the Mississippi River levy in the background.
Another pretty kewl thing was an array of "HOBO MARKINGS"... travelers would leave coded messages for others on fence posts, trees, etc. Pretty neat! This was a great stop....and awfully kind of them to stop, as they've seen the property plenty of times. I love my new friends!
